J-P BALAS graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in Architecture. After working for the likes of Richard Meir, he absurdly sacrificed a peaceful life in the world of architecture for the completely maniacal realm of cable television.
He worked his way up from the very bottom, starting as a coffee-boy and human spit bucket 'holder' for national TV commercials like Quaker Oats, Fed Ex, and American Express. He moved up the ladder to the art department where 'greeking' is an actual word, and cutting down a tree blocking a shot is 'no problem'!
Having had enough of the abuse, he launched his own company, Hussar Films, named after the horse mounted Hungarian soldiers who were the roots of his family. He began making his own promos and short films.
Producing wasn't enough, and he decided that he didn't need to sit behind the editor, he was gonna become the editor and producer- he saved a lot of time with this method! So now it was writing, producing, directing, shooting, and editing his material. Thanks to these skills he was able to apply them all to television programs, commercials, and promos.
Basically he wears a lot of hats, and he likes science fiction.
